Kate's Royal Wedding Dress to go on display at Buckingham Palace

The beautiful wedding dress worn by Kate Middleton now the Duchess of Cambridge at the Royal Wedding on 29th April 2011 is to go on display at Buckingham Palace this summer from 23rd July to 3rd October 2011.

The Royal bride's veil, tiara, diamond earrings and shoes will also go on display along with the Royal Wedding cake.

The wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen is made from ivory and white satin-gazar and the train measures 2.7 metres. Kate worked closely with Sarah Burton on the design.

The veil is made of layers of soft ivory silk tulle with a trim of hand-embroidered flowers and was held in place by the Cartier 'Halo' tiara which was lent to Kate by the Queen. The tiara had been given to Queen Elizabeth by her mother on her eighteenth birthday when she was still a princess. The shoes were also hand-made by the design team at Alexander McQueen.

Prince William and Kate meet President Barack Obama and The First Lady

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge meet the Obamas today in their first official royal duty together since the Royal Wedding.

Prince William and Kate who recently returned from their honeymoon in the Seychelles were at Buckingham Palace today to have a private meeting with President Barack Obama and the First Lady. The meeting only lasted 15 minutes as William and Kate have other commitments they must attend to today away from the Palace. The couple therefore did not join the Obamas and the rest of the Royal household for lunch.

President Obama and the First Lady were not invited to the Royal Wedding as it was not an official state occasion.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they are now officially known sneaked in a second kiss during the fly-over whist most people were looking up at the sky. 

What happened next after the Royal Wedding?

Perhaps one of the most memorable moments, other than of course the two kisses on the balcony of Buckingham palace, was watching Prince William driving Kate Middleton from Buckingham Palace to Clarence House in a classic Aston Martin convertible.

The short drive took place yesterday after the afternoon wedding reception for 650 guests at Buckingham Palace with balloons tied to the back and 'JU5T WED' written on the rear number plate, the car drew cheers and laughter from the thousands of well-wishers at the palace gates.

The couple later returned to Buckingham Palace for the evening celebration which was smaller with some 300 guests, mainly consisting of family and friends.

Kate Middleton, now the The Duchess of Cambridge had changed out of her wedding dress into a white evening dress by the same designer, Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. 

It is at this evening celebration that Prince Harry gave his Best Man speech and the guests celebrated into the early hours of this morning. Kate is reported to have said "I am glad the weather held off. We had a great day."

Around one million people lined the streets in Central London to celebrate the Royal Wedding and some five hundred thousand people were around The Mall to see the couple come out onto the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Police have thanked the British public for helping to make the Royal Wedding security operation "an amazing success". There were only 55 people arrested. The alleged offences included breach of the peace, drunk and disorderly, handling stolen goods and possession of an offensive weapon.

The security operation cost an estimated £20m under the threat from terrorists, stalkers and anarchists and thankfully the day was a success without any major incidents.

The photo on the right is part of new collection of photos released today by Clarence House and the photos were taken yesterday at Buckingham Palace.

The Newlyweds William and Kate spent the night at Buckingham palace and they left by helicopter this morning after taking a stroll around the Grounds bound for their honeymoon. The destination of the Royal Couple's honeymoon remained a secret.

The honeymoon will be for a traditional two week period and Prince William has a fortnight's leave from his job as an RAF search and rescue pilot in Anglesey. The pair are hoping for complete privacy after the public glare of their wedding. There is varying speculation that the couple may have gone to Scotland, the Caribbean, Jordon or Kenya.

We're sure everyone will wish them a very happy time together and respect their wishes for privacy over the next couple of weeks.

The Royal Wedding Reception at Buckingham Palace

The Queen is giving a lunchtime Reception at Buckingham Palace for around 650 guests drawn from the Wedding Service congregation, representing the Couple’s official and private lives.

Guests will be served Pol Roger NV Brut Réserve Champagne with a selection of other soft and alcoholic drinks.

There are up to 900 individually iced flowers and leaves of 17 different varieties decorated on the cake. A garland design around the middle of the cake matches the architectural garlands decorated around the top of the Picture Gallery in Buckingham Palace, the room in which the cake will be displayed. The chocolate biscuit cake was created by Mcvitie’s Cake Company using a Royal Family recipe at the special request of Prince William.

During the course of the Reception, Governors-General and Prime Ministers of Realm Countries will be presented to The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and the Bridal Couple.  The Reception will include the cutting of the wedding cake and some speeches.

Guests at the reception will be entertained by Claire Jones, the official Harpist to HRH The Prince of Wales.

The wedding cake and a chocolate biscuit cake will also be served at the Reception. The wedding cake, designed by Fiona Cairns, is made from 17 individual fruit cakes (12 of which form the base) and has eight tiers. The cake has been decorated with cream and white icing using the Joseph Lambeth technique. 

Not just one Royal Wedding kiss but two!

Prince William and Kate Middleton came out onto the balcony of Buckingham Palace smiling and waving along with the rest of the Royal Family. Greeted by cheers from a sea of people in front of them, the cheers very quickly changed to a chant in unison, 'KISS' 'KISS' the crowds began to roar. 

The couple looked at each other and then moved in for a very brief kiss on the lips, which lasted just a couple of seconds. Kate seemed very comfortable and William had a typical English gentlemen's awkwardness about him (actually very charming).

However, as the planes flew overhead and most peoples eyes were averted upwards, the Royal Couple moved in for a second kiss that lasted longer and seemed far more natural than the first. Prince William seemed much more comfortable the second time around.

The first time a newlywed Royal Couple kissed on the balcony of Buckingham Palace was in fact William's mother and father, Princess Diana and Prince Charles in 1981. 

It is sad that Princess Diana was not physically here to witness the day but there can't be any doubt that she would be very proud of Prince William and the way he has conducted himself. Diana would also be hard pushed not to be happy with his choice of bride, aside from looking fabulous, Kate conducted herself with a confident elegance and grace befitting of any Royal bride, let alone a commoner. 

In Diana's absence Prince Charles and The Queen deserve credit for raising a fine young man who will no doubt make a very fine future King.

Young girls around the world are in no doubt today that fairy tale dreams can come true and that said Prince Harry will not be short of female attention until he is safely wed himself. In fact his security may well need to be increased in the meantime.

William and Kate are now enjoying their reception in Buckingham Palace whilst millions of people from around the UK and the world are celebrating in their own special way.
