Prince William and Kate are on their way to Canada!

Prince William and Kate boarded a Canadian Forces plane earlier today at Heathrow Airport and are now on their way to Ottawa for the start of their 9 day Canadian tour. After which they will visit California in the USA.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are 'touring' Canada as oppose to 'visiting' the USA because Canada is part of the Commonwealth, in other words it is because Queen Elizabeth II is the head of state for Canada.

William and Kate will travel to Quebec, Prince Edward Island, The Northwest Territories and Alberta before leaving for the US on the 8th July.

When this Royal tour was first agreed last year, Prince William was not married and since the Royal Wedding on 29th April 2011 much has changed. The main change of course is the raised level of international interest in the Royal couple. To put it into perspective, when The Queen visited Canada in the Summer of 2010 there were just 20 international journalists accredited to cover the tour. More than 1,300 journalists have been accredited to cover this Royal tour of Canada by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Are Prince William and Kate trying for a baby?

We came across an interesting article in Vanity Fair which is reporting that Prince William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge ate an interesting combination of Brussel Sprouts and cream cheese during their honeymoon  in the Seychelles. 

Why is this important? Well, full fat dairy products are supposedly better for women who want to get pregnant and Brussel Sprouts are high in folic acid, which apparently aids in fertility. Is there any other reason why you would want to east such a food in an  island paradise?

Meanwhile, the Royal family including The Queen, Prince William and Kate were out in force yesterday at the Epson Derby to watch the Queen's horse, Carlton House race. 

Sadly the horse came in third and there were some unhappy faces among the Royal Family but the Queen in particular looked rather bemused as can be seen in this photo taken by Matthew Lloyd/Getty Images.

The Queens Historic Visit to Ireland

Whilst Prince William and Kate, the newly titled Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were on their royal honeymoon in the Seychelles the Queen made an historic state visit to the Republic of Ireland. 

William and Kate were no doubt relaxing and enjoying themselves on the beautiful golden beaches of the North Island in complete privacy and away from the world's media attention as it all turned to the Queen for her four day visit to Ireland from the 17th to 20th May 2011. 

King George V, The Queen's Grandfather had been the last reigning monarch to visit the country in 1911 when what is now the Republic of Ireland was still part of the UK.

Irish President Mary McAleese told state broadcaster RTE "an extraordinary moment in Irish history - a phenomenal sign and signal of the success of the peace process and absolutely the right moment for us to welcome onto Irish soil Her Majesty the Queen". Despite this and the majority of the country being in support of the Queen's visit there was genuine concern for her safety because of a tiny minority of Irish dissident repluplicans. The result was one of the biggest security operations ever mounted in the Republic costing an estimated 30 million euros.

Not just one Royal Wedding kiss but two!

Prince William and Kate Middleton came out onto the balcony of Buckingham Palace smiling and waving along with the rest of the Royal Family. Greeted by cheers from a sea of people in front of them, the cheers very quickly changed to a chant in unison, 'KISS' 'KISS' the crowds began to roar. 

The couple looked at each other and then moved in for a very brief kiss on the lips, which lasted just a couple of seconds. Kate seemed very comfortable and William had a typical English gentlemen's awkwardness about him (actually very charming).

However, as the planes flew overhead and most peoples eyes were averted upwards, the Royal Couple moved in for a second kiss that lasted longer and seemed far more natural than the first. Prince William seemed much more comfortable the second time around.

The first time a newlywed Royal Couple kissed on the balcony of Buckingham Palace was in fact William's mother and father, Princess Diana and Prince Charles in 1981. 

It is sad that Princess Diana was not physically here to witness the day but there can't be any doubt that she would be very proud of Prince William and the way he has conducted himself. Diana would also be hard pushed not to be happy with his choice of bride, aside from looking fabulous, Kate conducted herself with a confident elegance and grace befitting of any Royal bride, let alone a commoner. 

In Diana's absence Prince Charles and The Queen deserve credit for raising a fine young man who will no doubt make a very fine future King.

Young girls around the world are in no doubt today that fairy tale dreams can come true and that said Prince Harry will not be short of female attention until he is safely wed himself. In fact his security may well need to be increased in the meantime.

William and Kate are now enjoying their reception in Buckingham Palace whilst millions of people from around the UK and the world are celebrating in their own special way.

Kate Middleton is walking down the aisle of Westminster Abbey as I type. All celebrities, dignitaries, royals, friends and family are seated. We watched Prince William and Prince Harry arrive together earlier after a short drive from Clarence House. Kate left the Goring Hotel with her father and arrived at Westminster Abbey shortly after.  Both Prince William and Kate were waving to the crowds and look relaxed.  

Prince William was dressed very much as a military royal and Kate looked fantastic, wearing her hair down with a tiara believed to be a royal heirloom.

Posh and Becks arrived earlier with Becks smiling and looking relaxed whilst in typical fashion Posh was pouting to the point of looking like her jaw had been wired shut.

The Queen did not disappoint, looking as wonderful as she always does....and the hat...was yellow after all!

The Queen has given Prince William a new title - The Duke of Cambridge

With the Royal Wedding just hours away The Queen today has already conferred a Dukedom on Prince William of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus.

Prince William thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of  Cambridge and Miss Catherine (Kate) Middleton on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge.

The Royal Wedding between Prince William & Kate Middleton receives the Queen's Royal approval.

The Queen gave formal consent to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s marriage yesterday.

Under the Great Seal of the Realm, The Queen signed a notice of approval which proclaimed, in transcribed calligraphy, consent to the union of "Our Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of Wales, K.G. and Our Trusty and Well-beloved Catherine Elizabeth Middleton".

Tied to the bottom of the approval by gold braiding is a large red wax Great Seal of the Realm.

The law dates back to the 18th Century. Under the Royal Marriages Act 1772, all descendants of King George II must obtain the Sovereign's agreement before they wed.

The "Instrument of Consent" features decorative artwork chosen by the artist to represent the groom and bride-to-be.
